Flight

Very crowded and a little rowdy on the hill, tried to fly with Rob Chisholm but we lost each other in the sea of gliders when I got away with a small gaggle of 3. followed weak lift along the A27 getting lower and lower. Snuck in above ghandi just after Brighton uni and climbed for a while before everything got rough and broken. ghandi shot off south but I carried on east, kicking myself as he got into a really strong thermal. Saw a sailplane climbing below the top of caburn so flew in below and slowly climbed out again down the valley parallel to firle. the glider turned out to be a motor glider with 2-stroke running so was glad to dash off east again. Got low at the end of the firle ridge but stumbled into a thermal just before a reservoir (Arlington?) and got to cloudbase for the first time. found a few more thermals which seemed to be where they should have been for once before starting my usual glide to the ground with the vario droning at me. Saw Ghandi to the south again climbing very low down. Went through horrible sink on full bar and got into the bottom of the thermal 50ft of the ground with ghandi 20ft above. I lost it, landed, then watched him climb out again. retrieve went smoothly too, train to Brighton then the open top bus back to the Dyke.
