Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
Took four hours to drive from Guildford and was looking worse and worse as we drove north, almost complete cloud cover and some big scary looking ones too. Wind was ssw as fist and very light so impossible to fly but thermals brought it round to wsw so just about possible to fly. desperate stuff to start with but got a good thermal which drifted me NE and evevtually to cloudbase at 5000ft. Got low over Much Whenlock but just climbed out again over an archery competition - didn't want to land there! Drifted past a power station and on to Telford before two ATZ's appeared on my gps screen. Lucklily it was smooth enough to un-peel the velcro and zoom in to see where I could go. Decided that I'd go through the gap which turned out to be stupid as I got into rapidly sinking air and ended up turning into wind and making a desperate glide for the nearest town which turning out to be Bridgenorth. Didn't get home till 2am but a good day out.
