Flight details:
13th of July 2008 Devils Dyke I had a tandem flight booked and found the winds to be unsuitable for tandem as they were light and west.

I borrowed a glider from Owen, which belonged to Mark Watts the Vega 2. Had a little play on the ground and at 11 am i managed to catch a thermal out the front and climb up over the Bowl and then head off to New timer and rise slowly to go over the back.

And then the Sea Breeze did it stuff and climbed to base on the A27.

I was feeling the cold now dressed in Jeans, shirt and jumper.

To my right was the Palace Pier in view some 4 miles off I had the height to fly to my flat on the sea front for sure.

Everyone seemed in a hurry to go places, I just enjoyed the freedom that you have in a back pack and soaked in the views, it made me smile as a light aircraft flew below on their standard route, heading west back to Shoreham I say.

A flight they had done a million times no doubt, but here I was much higher and it all came in a bag.

Dave Massie was to my right, climbing well.

Tefal and Franco very low to my left, I had enough lift to stay where I was, all others had gone ahead by now and too far to be seen anymore.

Tefal and Franco climb slowly, then they located some rising air, I flew over and climbed in the same air with them both and spoke a few words with Tefal, made me smile chatting in the air at 3, 000 Ft now.

Tefal headed off to the Sea front and Franco and I played with the air we had.

I arrived with enough height to make decisions Lewis ahead to the left and Firle to the right ahead.

Leave the sea breeze all together or stay with it, all the cloud was Over Developing very quickly now and lift was small and scratchy.

I could see one glider land near to the cliffs of the Tunnel at Lewis and Craig from Africa very low and screaming along the ridge tops towards Caburn.

Franco was no where to be seen, Dave Massie was gone and Tefel long gone.

I had the height and headed more t
