Title: Nice trip to the countryside part 2
Site:Mount Caburn
Pilot:Dave Massie
Date of flight:2nd May 2008
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
After a retrieve from Hairy Dave (Did I say what a nice man he is?), walked up that bloody hill a second time, and took off in a gale. Someone over the wood (looks like my retrieve driver!) doing OK, so I join him, and start going up and up and up, in a lovely smooth 1 up. I can't leave Caburn on this, I think. Round and round, round and round. Oh no, this isn't strong enough. round and round, now about 750 above. Not really strong enough, no sirree, and I can get back easily, can't I? Er, well no, you can't anymore. Oops, an accidental XC, second today. This is really marginal stuff, but smooth as butter, really nice climb out. This time 1200 above was the best, and holding on it to a zero was really concentrated stuff. Over the Broyle, it all goes to pot, and down I come to earth. Phone Matt Pepper (He's still not in the office!) and he turns around, and picks me up from Uckfield. What a nice man! Only downer is seeing my previous retrieve driver fly overhead, followed by a smurf. Matt picks them up too, and back to Caburn we go, for a nicely earned pot of tea in the tea shop in Glynde. What a lovely day in the countryside. Life is good.
