Title: Devils Dyke to home
Site:Devils Dyke
Pilot:Nancy Elliott
Date of flight:16th August 2014
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
Dribbled away from the Dyke with what felt like almost a straight westerly! The forecast showed the wind increasing from lunchtime and sadly it had already started to do that.

Headed across to Newtimber hoping to find something, but then more dribbling over the A23, fortunately with safe height, then finally connected with something going up over a quarry near to Clayton hill, it peaked at average 3m/s! While going round and round I spotted a largish aircraft following the A23 south, not too far away from me, as it got closer I worked out it was a Chinook! Yikes they are big. Found out later it was one of the stars of the Eastbourne air show - pah! no need for me to go to the airshow I had a birds eye view, fortunately from a safe distance.

Once I was up near cloudbase there seemed to be a street heading towards Ashford, which would have been nice, but being sensible with the wind strength already increasing and only due to get windier I decided to land safely at home with Carlo. A first for me! Car on the drive to take us back to the Dyke, we finally stopped at the bacon buttie van at the Kingston roundabout and had a celebratory lunch! Naughty but very nice - Bacon-Egg-Mushrooms in a baguette is highly recommended.
