Title: Task 2 Ozone open Goal made
Site:France
Pilot:John Turczak
Date of flight:2nd July 2014
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
After not having done that well on task 1 where I wasted height by being impatient and left thermals too early I decided to change my game plan.
This almost failed at launch where after taking off i heard over the radio that I had a set of knotted lines and then in my haste to fix it almost flew into the ridge. After various attempts i was unable to get the knotted lines sorted so just got on with the task.

I got a good climb to base from the Chabre ridge and made it to the first turn point with enough height to get into the thermals above that one.Got to base - around 2100 meters -and went for the valley crossing to clip the next turnpoint.

I flew with another pilot at that point and we could see a gaggle about half a k away going up but we were too low to get to them. So we stayed where we were and worked some 0's which slowly developed into 1s and then 2 to 3 up. By which time we had out climbed the gaggle and they came in and joined us.

That took us over the sharkfin ridge which was working very well and took us up to base again at around 2200 m and then we were on a glide to goal.

32 pilots made it to goal and I came in at number 13. Still with the knotted lines.
