Class 5 results above. A 117km task, very good fun as it was mostly at such a fast pace. I had a perfect start and was one of the first over the start line as half the field jumped the gun and had to go out and come back in the start cyclinder. Every decision was paying off so that Me and an Italian Pilot 'selanati' were leading the way with the main lead gaggle of about 8 pilots about 1km behind. We did the first 60km on our own and then chose two separate routes, initially I got ahead but made a wrong decision to not top up at the wolves teeth after the high cirrus came in and ended up scratching a ridge for 20 minutes whilst him and the lead gaggle flew over my head. I eventually got back up and caught the back end of the Lead gaggle and came 9th for the day putting my overall position up to 14th with the second Brit (Andy Hollidge) in 15th. GB now 4th position ahead of Japan but behind France, a lot of work to do to take the bronze from France but we are starting to get used to this mountain flying and just may be able to do it. |
