Flight details
Title: Hup Holland!
Site:France
Pilot:Andrew Craig
Date of flight:27th June 2014
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
A nice practice flight before the Chabre Open. A smooth and gentle climb straight from launch, with almost no drift, persuaded me that it was going to be an easy day. After a buoyant glide over to the volcano, lift became much harder to find. Once low, the valley wind stopped me gliding back to the campsite (and it didn't help that I got the "glide ratio to destination" and "distance to destination" boxes confused on my GPS).

Two pilots landed in the same field soon after me. One explained to me that they were from the Netherlands, not Holland. "But I am from Holland," declared the second.

I set off walking before them, but quickly got a lift from a local farmer, who told me (I think) that her boyfriend had been killed in a paragliding accident. Take care, everyone.
