We started by making a slow trip West but then as the ridge in that direction was in shade we turned and made our way East. I nearly failed to make it back past take-off but a save off a ruined castle allowed me to reconnect with the house thermal at take-off which took me closer to a dark scary cloud than I was comfortable with so I big-ears and barred out of the cloud only to lose much of gained height but at least I was on my way to the east end of the Sopot valley (whilst others were whistling back in the opposite direct to enjoy lunch and beer by the lake).
One good climb at the east end of the ridge and I was able to easily make my way west back home. With buoyant air I was keen to get back to the castle and close the loop but the radio suddenly came to life with a strongly worded warning to land immediately due to the threat of incoming thunder so I dutifully turned and landed by the lake for beer and lunch.
