Title: Montlambert - a perfect bubble when its N and strong at Annecy
Site:France
Pilot:James Hope-Lang
Date of flight:15th May 2014
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
We were in Annecy for 2 days of SIV with Flyeo and 2 days of exploring the hills. Unfortunately the weather wasn't playing ball and the first day was cancelled due to strong Northerlies. However Flyeo suggested we look at Montlambert, a South facing ridge about 40 mins drive from Doussard (southern end of the lake). It seemed counter intuitive but we headed off there and found a dozen or so other pilots at launch. Most of these turned out to be students doing top to bottoms though a couple were a bit more advanced and headed out to the right of launch to maintain. However it was a really alien feeling to be waiting on launch with the wind blowing over the back from the North and down the slope, windsocks facing wrong direction - but after a few minutes a bubble would come up from below, everything turned 180 deg and you are off!

Once you crept round to the side it became a scratching exercise, trying to eek out climb from every little bubble that headed up the slow. As I was expecting 5 mins but got 40min of flying it was a real bonus day
