Title: Airspace confusion
Site:Combe Gibbet
Pilot:Grita Rose-Innes
Date of flight:14th May 2014
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
I planned my route so well last night using Flyskyhy on my iphone. I found a second good climb and then two thirds of the way to base, the map on Flyskyhy went black and my phone logged out. I was distracted and switched to my GPS on the airspace map page. It looked like spaghetti. What I could make out, and to my horror, was 'the black arrow' seemed close to Andover airspace. I turned 90 degrees, then I was confused and didn't know exactly where I was. The map didn't show any names of towns, just lots of airspace lines. Catherine's airspace story came into mind. The result was a long glide and I landed near Whitchurch. In the end it all appeared to have been perfectly alright!
