Launched around midday as the wind had just slackened off. After wrestling with various strong climbs I managed to access a cloud street which I was able to fly under without turning for a while. I got past Arlington reservoir and continued for a bit until I lost the lift. As I'd been heading upwind for most of my flight I thought it would be relatively simple to return to the hill downwind. Wrong! I was floating in zeroes for ages then cruelly tricked by a flock of 400 seagulls who lied to me about the position of a ruddy great thermal and landed just north of the railway crossing near Selmeston. Wind had turned south of easterly by then which helped to confuse me (sea breeze). Thanks to "Jane" who kindly gave me back to Bo Peep car park and to Andrew Craig who kindly supplied tea and biscuits. Altogether a grand day out! |
