Flight details: | I think I counted 11 hangies (and loads of PGs), twice as many as I've ever seen at Newhaven before. The carry up nearly killed me - mainly because I had to keep up with Nicos who was carrying the other end of my glider and scrambled up there like a mountain goat ;o) With the limited rigging space up on the cliff behind the HG take-off it could have been cramped but it worked OK, with those rigged first taking off and making space for those behind until all were up.
I went half way to Brighton but it wasn't ideal, the wind being a bit light, so I turned and came back and played about a bit on the high point of the cliff before deciding to have another go. Got to the marina lower than I've been before but high enough above the cliff to feel a bomb-out was only a small risk, and with the tide well out and plenty of shingly patches to land on. The return was easier with a slight following wind.
Played about a bit more on the high cliff, using the Java's VG and pulling in to see how fast I could go. Not very. But it holds a nice straight line.
Food and drink (cheers Damien) with a small crowd in the pub after to round off a nice day. |
