Flight details: | If you get a chance to buy an ex-hire car from Lanzarote - turn around and run away as fast as you can! Don't even think about it!
There is a reason people go up a mile long track with huge ruts, boulders and holes in these little hatchbacks.... Because the flying is incredible!
Mirador is a beautiful coastal site, gorgeous views miles out to sea, another island on your left, views back down the Famara ridge and a 1400ft drop to the crashing white waves on the volcanic rock below.
There were about 8 paragliders in the air and about another 10 Hangies. Nice light wind but still very lifty and great fun flying around close to all your mates enjoying the silky smooth air. There were clouds drifting over launch and we were able to climb up into the wispy bits and follow the lift out to sea. I flew Nicos's discus today and really enjoyed it, a fantastic high performance Kingposted glider, Chris was whizzing about (usually above me) on the U2. John Birchall was enjoying spiralling out above the big blue on his Avian Java, Damien was racing about on his Crossover and Mike was enjoying the views on his Rio 2. JB was the only topless glider out of our group on his C2.
The landing field was shared with a motocross track so we got to derig with some entertainment before stopping off at a fish restaurant right on the beach with the best paella I've had and more of the local beer. Doesn't get much better than that!
Planning for Famara tomorrow!
