| Flight details: | The day wasn't looking epic, but as this tiresome thing called work has interfered with most good days this year, I was just happy to be out on the hill. It was crowded and there were some interesting moments. At one stage I was shouted out by a sky God as he came towards me. I was on the ridge and he was thermaling back in my direction and to my left. I had another pilot on my right, inching closer, which was the only place I could move to avoid an incident, so Sky God had to brake hard to take evasive action.... Although the thermals weren't stonking, there was enough incentive to try for a week dribble over the back. After a few aborted attempts I eventually decided to stick with a week climb and left at about 1500. I thought I was going down at Ringmer, but found a week climb at about 200ft, and was joined by Garry and two others. The climb eventually took us to 2500, the highest I got all day, and enough to get me to Broak Oak, but no low saves there. Luckily my Mum has just moved to Burwash, and was kind enough to pick me up (and Garry from Heathfield), with a promise of tea and biscuits in the garden at home. |
