Flight details:
After a long wait for the wind to drop to safe levels it was almost 1:00 pm before I set off with Pete Impey towards Lewes. An initial good climb petered out at an inversion at about 3,300. Pete made a decisive move northward to a light brown field and found a good lee-side thermal. This and glide got me as far as the Amex Stadium and Pete further on to the Newmarket pub.

I really wanted to get to Lewes so back to the hill for another go. By around 3:30 the sea breeze was encroaching and there was one pilot in the air - as student of Steve Purdy's I think - who was maintaining in front of the hill and then starting to inch up. I launched thinking it was worth a punt and was immediately in a nice climb to around 2,000. Rather than head back to hill I thought the wind direction was good for lift off of New Timber and just got in to the top of the ridge where I got a climb that kept going until almost at Falmer. This time I was well clear of the Amex stadium but didn't get another climb en route to Lewes and landed beside Kingston. So getting ever closer to Lewes. A lady in search of her husband who was out walking accompanied me on my trek into Lewes and, having found her husband two pints up in the The Swan, gave me a lift home. A good result.
