The regular evening session at the Glynde Drinking Men's Club.

This time we will have Dave Lewis, Steve Purdie and other seasoned navigators showing you how we do it. We'll discuss air charts, compasses, rulers and GPS useage. Both from an XC pilot and comp pilot viewpoint.

We intend to go through some flight planning exercises and hold a virtual task on the village green (weather permitting).

Please bring your flight deck with map, compass, GPS, altimeter, etc. A torch might be handy also. Don't worry if you haven't got everything, you can team up with someone who has. Please ensure you have read your gadget manuals in advance and can change data fields, enter waypoints, etc.

CU there, unless I get lost on the way,

Dave.

GPS Instrumentation

Dave i wanted to discus the inputting of waypoints and basic stuff, will we be able to cover this?

basic GPS function

I hope most people will have read their manual and be able to do such things. The intention is to form groups of people with similar instruments when it comes to the practical parts so that, hopefully, each group will have enough knowledge between them to work their machines.

Which GPS do you own?

Hi Beanie,

Which GPS do you own? Basic stuff will be in the manual, I'd suggest (please don't be upset) that it's the flying specific stuff that's not in the manual that will be of most use. There will only be a limited amount of time, and the inputting of way points will not be of use to users of other models of GPS.

This is purely a suggestion, I know the question was put to Dave so I will p*ss off now and zip it.
