caveat aviator

looks like the ais website is getting worse (i know, you'd think that would be impossible). no sign of a nice pdf with a map this time. well there is, but only for part of the story.

the only way to get the 6 nm radius exclusion zone data is direct from ais using your official logon.

sorry dave i wasn't able to post more data earlier. the shgc site was being very obstinate as well as me being on the wrong computer, so i had very limited data to hand.

looks like we have to look up TRAs as well as NAVWs and this still may not include red arrows etc data. and still no map provided.

As per normal I'm getting confused looking at the NOTAMS...

By how far North of Eastbourne do we have to fly to miss the NOTAM area?

can anyone help me with an online map that will take these coordinates directly?

cheers

confused

NOTAM page now displays the rectangle enclosed by the co-ordinates.

I had a look at website after googling Eastbourne Notams called Fly DSC that showed the red arrows area to be a larger circle than you've drawn. Basically centred just south of Eastbourn pier at 6 NM. That touches Seaford, Berwick, Hailsham, then around to Normans bay and out to sea. Maybe you didnt use nautical miles? Maybe flydsc is wrong? (Liked your square though).

Oops! My circles were based upon minutes of arc at 51 North, not the equator. Now fixed. Looks like we will have to avoid gong much south of Hailsham in our epic flights to Kent tomorrow...

While looking at the problem , I spotted this for Sunday:

Are these guys serious? How the hell do you plot that? Not at all sure what my program is going to do to that, when it appears.

are these guys serious?

"Are these guys serious? How the hell do you plot that?"

based on past experience, yes they think they are...

personally, i'm getting well beyond my own bullshit limit. that last really does go beyond reason. presumably, standing in court charged with an airspace infringement the average pilot would ask the judge to explain precisely which bit of the countryside he may not fly (have flown) over between which times as registered on his standard uk watch on which dates as displayed on his uk diary - and then ask how he could reasonably be expected to be (have been) aware of this information in advance of the alleged event.

is any of this stuff included in the bhpa pilot syllabus? anyone know a good coach? i reckon i need one.
