Dave Watts flies the Batso, 1971
Maiden flight of the Batso, by Dave Watts, at Ditchling, 1971. Not having access to bamboo, Dave made the glider from polythene, yacht masts, and aluminium scaffold ties, from an American design. Ditchling was the only place steep enough to ensure that the glider actually made it into the air.
