BCC Round Lakes/Dales 10th and 11th May

The Cumbria Club have proposed a round of the BCC (British Club Challenge) in the Lakes or Dales area. The precise location will be determined closer to the time. This is a friendly club level competition open to all. More details can be found at www.flybcc.co.uk. It would be good to get a Southern Club team together for this event, no previous experience required. If you are interested please email Mark Rubinstein at shgc [at] mrluk [dot] com

Given that Cumbria is quite a drive away an alternative is fly a round
in South East Wales this weekend - Meet in Abergavenny on Saturday
morning (or on Sunday morning if you can only do one day).

Let me know if there is interest in this one - it might make sense for
us to shift the Southern Club team to SE wales.

Hi All

Air Adventure Paragliding in conjunction with Apex Paragliding will be running hill to winch conversion courses on Fri 16th Sat 17th and Sun 18th May. The courses will consist of theory and practical sessions.

You need to be Club Pilot with a minimum 10 hrs flying experience and have a canopy suitable for towing (if in doubt call me). You should also have a reserve.

The cost of the tow course will be £250. Tow releases will be available to buy at 10% discount for those on the course.

There is a new round proposed for this coming
weekend - 17^th and 18^th May in South East Wales. So let's get a team
together and see if we can get the Southern Slackers (not yet our
official name) up on the score board.

For those that don't know the BCC - British Club Challenge is a very
friendly competition that is open to everyone from Club Pilot up. All
scoring is for the team (rather than the individual) with handicapping
so the same flight will earn more for someone who is Club Pilot rated
than for someone who is Pilot or Advanced Pilot rated. It is a much less

The next club lecture will be at Glynde Social club on Thursday May 29th starting at 7.30pm.
This will be a Southern club sites Guide given by Dave Massie
Dave will be talking about how to get the most out of the sites, such as the Brighton run/ Truligh run / Ditchling ridge run / Firle run and so on.
He will also be talking about some of the dangers and what to look out for and how to get the very best from the sites in general.
This I believe will be a very valuable talk to us all and especially to the newer members.
